In general homeplugs/ethernet over power should be okay, unless they are particularly old units.

Does the sub woofer light react at all when a pin is inserted/start flashing even for a second while pressed?

  I have had exactly the same issuse with my M12 for the last 2 weeks

Would you believe it was down to the powerlead,must have a very small bad connection somewhere in there,as when replaced the sub worked instantly and has done since

This was the last resort checking this and I was amazed that it worked tbh
