Helicopter, Machine gunning or Jack hammer noise.

This is due to the digital output, SPDIF, Dolby or DTS settings on your TV and/or connected devices.

If you post the make and model number of your TV or Device here we can help.

Hi,

We are getting this sound when we try to play a dvd on our Sony BDP-S6500 blueray player. The iPlayer app also does it. It has previously also happened on our Sony Bravia 65XE9305B Television and when we try to use the Amazon video app. At the moment they are ok. The current problem seemed to happen after we changed from Sky TV to Virgin Media today. The hdmi cables were also removed and put back in and the tv switched off and on at the wall. I hope you can help.

Hi Wiredtothemoon,

Sony TV's work a little differently than most, basically the audio settings on the Virgin/TiVo, Blu Ray and TV all need to be set to PCM/Normal/Dolbyd to PCM.

The TV is likely under settings/setup>av setup>digital audio as PCM.

The Virgin/Tivo is under help>help and settings>settings>audio>HDMI audio format.

The Blu Ray Likely has many audio settings that can/need to be set to PCM.

Some firesticks have a PCM setting as well under settings>audio>audio format or similar.

Thanks we found out about PCM on another post and this has solved the problem.
