Fixes for the dipping issue that occurs on some TV's Devices
#11
Thank you for your response, I am not technically minded, but my son has ascertained it appears to work fine with the aux cable, the problem only seems to occur when using the optical.
Thanks for ypur help

Hi Peter,

It may be worth updating the bar then, though an alternative connection works just as well.

Let me know if we can help.

Hi

I have just purchased the A70 from John Lewis and have set it up it sounds great but it has the dipping issue which is so annoying if I had been told about this from the sales man at john lewis i would not have brought the sound bar and gone with another one.As i am not tech minded I will not be able to fix the problem with the sound bar and I am thinking off returning what otherwise is a great sound bar. Hi Chris

Sorry to hear you have been hit by the dipping issue, Unfortunately as there is no real definitive way of figuring out what Samsung and LG TV's are affeted (Both have released updates that at times seem to cause or fix the issue, which is then subsequently reversed in a later update) I can only suggest giving the update a go if you have a Windows PC.

Use the contact us Link here and send me your address and we can get a cable out and/or arrange a call so we can help you get to grips with the update or mybe get it in so we can update it for you, some John Lewis stores helpfully offer as well..

It might help to know all but the last four digits of your serial number as well and the model number and make/Brand of your TV. Please do not include the last four digits of your bars serial.

I can say that most newer bars have had the udate applied and depending on the TV you have there are other fixes.

I've spent an hour or so updating the firmware on my A60 soundbar only to still have the same issue with the sound dipping in and out.

Can you recommend anything else to try? I don't have the issue when using Aux or Bluetooth so it must be linked to the optical connection.

I have only had the issue since upgrading to a 2017 Samsung TV. Model UE49MU6470

Hi Jscott1404,

Is this a random dip, or does it happen after changing channels/when the TV is first turned on/over?

Did the update report a successful install?

Hi Simon

Yes the install was reported as succesful and the dip in sound its completely random.

Hi Jscott1404,

If the install was successful and the bar has updated we must be looking at something that presents similar but may not be the traditional "dipping" issue.

Is this being viewed on the TV itself or a Sky box/other set top box?

Does the same thing happen on a AUX or Bluetooth connection?

Hi Simon.

Im viewing on the tv itsself via freeview/tv plus or one of the smart apps. I haven't tried AUX but im curretly using Bluetooth and that seems to have solved the issue

Hi Jscott,

I would try AUX, it sounds as though it may be volume normalisation as opposed to "dipping".

It may be a little louder on AUX as well.
