M12 Control Panel Cleaning
#1
Hi Folks,

I have had an M12 for about 3 years and have just noticed today that the control panel seems to be tarnishing and is sticky!!

Has anyone else had this problem and if so what can be done?? I have always cleaned using a duster and on the odd ocasion a damp cloth when needed.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike,

Never known a M series control panel to get sticky without some catalyst.

Having said that there is a light protective layer on there.

If you wipe it with a baby/wet wipe (while off leave it for 10 minutes to dry) does it remain sticky while wet or not?

Is it the entire panel or just a few spots?

Hi Simon,

Thanks, I agree its as if the panel is reacting to something!

I have tried baby wipes but the stickiness remains, its the entire panel??

Can these be replaced?

Thanks

Hi Mike,

Sorry does it remain sticky when wet as well as after it drys?

The short answer is yes we can replace the panel, it would take an authorised repair agent though.

If you are anywhere near our London office happy to take a look.

Hi Simon,

My wife got me the unit for my birthday at least 3 years ago from John Lewis in Bluewater, I live in Lewisham which is greater London. What location are you guys in and what would a replacement cost?? The control panel is still sticky when dry and looks rather faded. I can supply pictures if needed.

Cheers

Mike

Hi Simon,

Where in London are you, I am in Lewisham and so London is on my doorstep, would be great to get this back to how it looked when my wife bought me the unit!

I wouldnt say its sticky when its wet but it doesnt look right, I would describe it as tacky when it dries and looks shiny and not matt as it was when I first got the unit.

Thanks

Mike
