WEEE - Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment

What is WEEE?
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations (2006 No. 3289) (WEEE) is legislation adopted in Britain designed to address the environmental impact of waste electrical and electronic equipment.
- The WEEE Directive aims to minimise the impacts of electrical and electronic equipment on the environment during their lifetimes and when they become waste.
The regulations have been put in place to ensure that products are recycled using best available treatment, recovery and recycling techniques to ensure human health and high environmental protection.
- Both Orbitsound and our customers can assist in recycling waste electrical and electronic equipment.
We cannot recycle it unless you return it, so our customers have an important role to play in helping us to recycle. See below for details of the sorts of products which can be returned to Orbitsound free of charge for recycling by UK customers.
- Orbitsound will undertake its responsibility as both a Producer and a Distributor to dispose of these goods in line with European legislation (for UK customers only). As an environmentally responsible company, Orbitsound will then refurbish or dispose of the equipment in an environmentally sensitive fashion.
How do I know if my product is covered?
Look out for this symbol:
- If the symbol shown here is found on any of your goods, it means that the product is covered by the WEEE Regulations.
- Orbitsound will arrange for the recycling free of charge of any equivalent products on a one for one basis owned by UK customers which have been rendered surplus to requirements as a result of your purchase of an Orbitsound speaker. This might cover for example an iPod dock, radio or soundbar which you no longer need having purchased a new Orbitsound product, but would not apply to items such as fridges, hoovers, microwave ovens or televisions to give a few examples of the sorts of items which are not like for like replaced by an Orbitsound product.
